Amazon.com Backed by lush orchestration and a choir of quite formal carolers, Michael Crawford's A Christmas Album plays as an elegant concert rather than a random collection of seasonal ditties. An entertainment embracing the good news of Christ's birth, A Christmas Album is thankfully not something we'll hear booming all over town as we shop till we drop. Instead, this is precisely the type of recording one might enjoy at home with family while making an advent wreath or preparing holiday goodies to be shared with loved ones. Crawford's rich theatricality and classical arrangements invoke a joyful sense of spirit in readiness for the Holy babe who came to light the world. There is comfort here. Following ritual and tradition in this timeless mode of celebration, one is both warmed and delivered by the heralding tones of Crawford and his army of singing angels. --Paige La Grone

MICHAEL CRAWFORD FANS & CHRISTIANS ALIKE THIS IS A MUST HAVE October 24, 1999 Lesley Pegg (Marion, Ohio) 30 out of 31 found this review helpful
As a rule I do not listen to Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving, but not this year. I have long been a fan of Michael Crawford. 10 Years ago, I became a Christian because of his music. I was overjoyed with "ON EAGLES WINGS" but this album tops it. The first time I heard "O, HOLY NIGHT", I had not only goose bumps on my arms, but tears streaming down my face. This song is pure, unadulterated praise and worship. This song, alone, will make you feel you've truly heard an angel's voice. "MARY DID YOU KNOW?", is also a soaring testament to the meaning of Christmas. As usual, Michael can pack emotion in each and every word, whether it be joy, praise or to bring a tear to the eye. For anyone who has a special relationship with her father, you will cry over "Scarlet Ribbons". The orchestrations and the children's choir are an excellant and uplifting blend with his emotional voice. The children's choir add a feel of light-heartedness and joy, as they will bring a smile to the face. For those familiar with contemporary Christian music, you will be treated to Twila Paris on "WHAT A STRANGE WAY TO SAVE THE WORLD". There isn't a bad song on the entire album. This is an excellant follow up to "ON EAGLES WINGS". I have long awaited a Christmas album from Michael and the wait has been well worth while. I would highly recommend this album to Christians and non-Christians alike as a wonderful addition to your Christmas collection.
The best Christmas album by far! November 30, 1999 Renee (USA) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
Michael Crawford has the most amazing voice and he proves it in this CD. I first time I saw this CD was here and I bought it then and there. I am 13, but still love anything and everything this man does. He has the voice of an angel and, I'll say it again, it shows on this CD. MAKE ANOTHER CHRISTMAS CD! Some of my favorite songs are 'Scarlet Ribbons', 'Mary, Did You Know?", and 'Strange Way to Save the World'. They aren't well-known songs like 'Holly, Jolly Christmas' or 'Rudolph', but you learn to love each and every measure of music. I wish there were more!
An Angel's Voice November 26, 1999 Agitator76 (Levittown, NY United States) 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
This is the most beautiful Christmas album I have ever heard. It has a wonderful mix of standard Christmas carols and contemporary songs I had never heard before. God took an angel's voice and gave it to Michael Crawford.
Best Christmas Vocal I've Ever Heard.... November 21, 2000 Matthew M. Yau (San Francisco, CA) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
In this timeless Christmas album, Michael Crawford has delivered to us the best vocals and a significant message: reminds us of what Christmas is all about. This is not like another Christmas album filled with re-makes of ditties that flood into the stores at this time of the year. Yet it is a masterpiece for the holiday.Packed with passion and emotion, every single word delivered by Crawford represents strength and power. Performance of "Mary, Did You Know" re-directs us back to the meaning of Christmas - the celebration of birth of Christ. "O Holy Night" is a beautiful piece that will brings lump to your throat and tears in yur eyes. "Scarlet Ribbons" is another of my favorite pick. Backed by flamboyant orchestration, the album presents a passionate concert for the holiday with Michael Crawford. The lucid, solid, and tenor voice, combined with theatricality spices up the entire listening experience. Highly recommended.
